The 'Hidden' Infrastructure of a SaaS: How I Fixed Our DNS & Support Loop

Most people think building a SaaS is just about the code. They’re wrong. It’s about trust. Today, I took Paylayer.app through what I call "DNS Hell" to ensure that when a user reaches out, we are there—professionally, securely, and instantly.

1. The Problem: The "Delivery Failed" Silent Killer

I started the day with a major roadblock: emails sent to our support address were bouncing. Our authentication was weak, and Gmail's strict 2026 protocols were flagging us. In the modern SaaS landscape, if your DMARC, SPF, and DKIM aren't perfectly aligned, you aren't just losing emails—you're losing authority.

2. The Solution: A Hybrid Power-Setup

Instead of paying for expensive enterprise seats that bloat our burn rate, I engineered a high-performance hybrid system designed for scale:

• Outbound (Sending): Powered by Resend. We verified DKIM/SPF to ensure 100% deliverability. Resend is the gold standard for developer-first email infra.
• Inbound (Receiving): Powered by Cloudflare Email Routing. It "catches" support emails and forwards them to my personal inbox with zero latency.
• The Mask: Using Resend's SMTP inside Gmail so I can reply as support@paylayer.app directly from my familiar interface.

3. The "Check Green" Moment

After fine-tuning the DNS records and combining SPF includes (avoiding the dreaded "too many lookups" error), we hit the jackpot: Verified. Every signal in our infrastructure now shouts "Authentic."
